MY newest purchase

I figured since Jeremy got a new deer head, not cheap, I should get a little something too, only fair right? I am carrying his first born child! My wedding ring hasn't been comfortably fitting me for about a week or 2 and I hate walking around without anything on. So I've been trying to convince Jeremy I need something for my ring finger. Well after "the hanging of the deer head" last night I convinced him to come out and do a little shopping with me and then swayed him to look at and purchase a ring for me. Needless to say the ring is gorgeous and was in the 3 figures, OK so there is a decimal point in those 3 figures, $6.69, and it's from the prestigious jewlery store Kohls and completely fake. So, his purchase was slightly larger and more expensive, maybe I can drop enough hints, approx 5-10 a day, that I would like a real ring like this one day. I'm crossing my fingers that this one won't turn my finger green!!

Bringing the outdoors indoors :(

Last night Jeremy wasn't home, changed and already working on 5 projects with 2 done by the time I got home at 5:20?? That's really not like him. I called him and he reminded me, excitedly, that he is picking up his deer head. Side note: You know when a dog/cat kills a small animal like a rabbit, squirrel or bat and then brings it to their master with pride, while all the master wants to do is vomit, scream and run the other way. Well, he was the proud animal and I was the terrified master. Jeremy put his trophy it on the wall and it's a monster compared to his first buck and then sat in the basement in all his glory admiring the heads. I think I'm going to follow him, secretively, out to the woods this year and every year to scare away the deer so he doesn't get any more. Wish me luck!!

Happy 30th Jill!

Last week was my coworker Jill's 30th birthday. She was out on the actual day, but we decided to "decorate" her office for her return on Monday. I went to the store and accidentally got 75 green balloons, thought they were black, and we along with pictures and black table cloths successfully made her office look like Hempstead Highschool's prom!! I know she enjoyed it and we had fun celebrating her 30th with her on the day. Hope this topped off your special day, Jill!!

Surprise visit from the Chukins

After the shower on Saturday we met Mandi and Andriy in Galena for some fun shopping and dinner out. It was a nice surprise to get a call from them on Friday saying they wanted to stay over on Saturday night after a day in Galena! We went to Poopsies, Atomic Game CO, another game store, candy and ice cream shops, of course, and just walked the street for a little bit. We had an amazing dinner at Connovas, complimentary of Mandi and Andriy thanks stinkers!! Then back to Dubuque for a little casual hanging out and relaxing by the fire. Sunday was gorgeous and we went out for a little boating and soaking in the rays. They left that afternoon from the river, I know it was hard to leave, but we hope you guys come up again before the baby and Ukraine!! It really want a great surprise and it made our weekend a little more exciting. We love weekend visitors! Any one's welcome!

Jen's baby shower

Jen's baby shower was a success and she made off with a bunch of baby stuff! We had the shower at Joleen's house and it was a great day to see family and lots of kids and babies!! This is making me more excited about my shower, I feel like I'll actually have "stuff" to fill up the baby room after a shower! Jen got some adorable things and some nice/useful things, we'll both have to study up on how to use some of these foreign items. Good thing we have large families, we'll need all of the help we can get!!

Our babies, for now...

We are spending some good quality time with our dogs until the baby comes and I think they're enjoying it! With many walks, for all of our sakes, ball throwing, cuddling and playing we're all enjoying our relaxing summer! We're still working with training them and I'm trying to change my nicknames for them so they don't and won't think they are the baby, which is probably going to be hard to break!!

The finished product...

We finally got a mattress and were able to take the crib from storage unit to baby crib. I must say now that everything's coming together I'm really excited about the baby room!! Now all we're missing is the baby.

Practice makes perfect

I think like we will feel well prepared with our hours of babysitting, or at least we may think so until about 2 hours after bringing baby Fluhr home :{ But at least we're getting some practice. We babysat Madison Saturday night and she slept the whole time with just a few minutes out of her swing. I almost wish she would give us a little more to work with, maybe some crying, eating, dirty diaper, you know the real stuff! It was great spending time with her and really crazy to see how much older she is looking at 2 months old. She's still pretty small around 10lbs, but is looking around and smiling more than ever. We'll keep our babysitting services open until we need them and then will ask for others to return the favor :)

Baby etiquette

Jeremy and I have decided we really need to put our foot down on some of the things the dogs do that drive us crazy now, before the baby comes. For instance, Molly loves to bark at everything outside regardless if she's outside or inside, annoying! Riley love to get right in your face, cute and annoying but could become frustrating with a new baby. Molly loves attention, a potential problem when all of the attention will be on the baby. I borrowed a baby doll from a coworker and they are going CRAZY over it. Part of it may be the smell of some one's home and animals, so they have been wanting to sniff it thoroughly. When they get adjusted to it, we need to use positive reinforcement when we are trying to get them to be gentle, get down off the furniture, not bark, etc... We haven't started the official training yet, but have introduced the doll and been saying baby a lot getting them used to the terminology we'll be using. Riley will probably be the most protective and I could see her running to the baby when it's crying and sitting by the crib to make sure the baby's OK. In fact the doll is in the crib when we're not holding it and Riley will sit right next to the crib or under it randomly throughout the day. Molly on the other hand will be pissed at first she's not the baby, but I think that will quickly change and she'll go about her daily life with little interest in the baby. I know us Scott's, and Greenhill's, are crazy for our dogs, but I think we've got to introduce some of these changes early so I don't nuts when the dogs are crying, barking, jumping at the same time the baby is crying. Wish us luck!!

Baby book

I have been searching for a good baby book to document the baby's arrival and the next few years of their life. I have found some that require TONS of writing and I know I'll keep that up for about 5 minutes and others are just too cheesy for my taste. I found this one at a small specialty shop here in town, but didn't get it right away because a little more than I wanted to spend on a baby book. I came to work the next day and asked if anyone had coupons I could borrow to buy this baby book I found. One of the ladies in the office asked if it was a yellow book with a giraffe and buttons on it?? I said, "YES! Have you been following me around town?" Her daughter just had a little girl and got 2 of these books for gifts. They were both extremely gracious and just gave me the extra book she had. So nice! I'm excited to start documenting some of the things about my pregnancy and our families. I am crossing my fingers that I can keep it up through the new few years!

Timmermans with the girls

We had a great excuse to go out with some old friends from Timmermans last night, Jennifer was in town from TX with the new baby boy! We got to see little, adorable Elliot and her older son Spencer for a little bit. It was a fun night,we ate great food, had great company and some people probably had a few glasses of great wine :( Our conversation has drastically changed from partying and hanging out to kids and babies. Alesha just found out she's having identical twin boys, Kelly has 2 girls, Laura a boy and girl and Jen has the 2 boys. So funny to talk about everything and exchange stories, we really need to do this more often.

28ish weeks

OK, I'm just at the end of my 28 week, because I kept meaning to, but forgot to take the 28 week picture. There's been a lot going on the past 4 weeks. I've been growing like crazy and packing on the pounds!! Feeling pretty good and the baby's been moving around tons!! Jeremy and I were actually able to not just feel it move the other night, but the baby was sticking out and we were able to push it around and feel it push back. Pretty crazy! I'm beginning to go every 2 weeks for my Dr appts and have an appt Monday, July 20. I had my diabetes appt Monday and failed :( had to then do the 3 hr test, but happy to say it was negative! My legs are starting to feel the weight more and after a day/night of being on my feet a little rest is desperately needed. We're getting more and more ready every day and are preparing for the next 12 weeks to FLY BY!!

THE BABY'S ROOM

Although it's not completely done, the baby room actually feels like a baby's room!! Jeremy put furniture together the past few nights and it was smooth going, no blow ups or missing parts!! The dogs and I didn't do much, but watch and hold pieces if necessary.

The Fun Fourth!!

Another great summer weekend. It went so fast, but felt so long because of the extra days we had to spend with everyone! We went boating on Friday with my family and Mandi and Andriy's peace corp friend Jeremy, AKA JDo. Then hit Don and Rita's after for the airshow and fireworks. Saturday we got up to a gloomy and cool day, but ventured out anyway later in the afternoon to a dinner in Bellevue. It was a great weekend and so glad we got to spend it with both of our families, we were just sad Jess and Clint missed out! Thanks everyone for coming to visit and making our weekend a little more interesting and a lot more fun!!
