We're on TV!!!

Isn't it funny how us "little" people get such a thrill with the prospect of seeing someone we know on TV, or better yet ourselves. So after I got Abby's comment I decided to share the link with all and attach a picture, so you too can find us! Yea, too much time went into this, but I think it's well worth it. FYI I cannot find mom, maybe she was on a beer run?

Another big weekend

After the shower on Saturday we went to Jacksonville to visit Mandi and Andriy and their new home, as well as the Cards Cubs game on Sunday in St Louis! What a weekend!! When we got to mom and dad's, around 6pm, they were waiting with Nana and Papa and Zach. We ate a great dinner together, thanks mom, and chatted for a while before heading over the the Chukin's. Everyone, except for Zach and me, did a celebratory shot of Ukrainian vodka to toast the new home. They have a great place with lots of plans for decorating and adding their personal touches to it. Can't wait to hang out there more often and once the baby comes, we'll be staying there while mom and dad babysit!! Sunday was a great day for baseball. The weather was 85 and sunny and extremely windy in St Louis, but with lots of sunscreen, beer, water and great action on the field we were pretty content and comfortable, especially Jeremy and I!!! The lady next to Jeremy caught Micah Hoffpauir's home run and Jeremy watched with disappointment while he had his hands full of beer :( The drive home was long, but well worth the trip!! Thanks for a great weekend guys and go Cubs!!

Joleen's Baby Shower

Saturday was Joleen's shower and everything was great, except the weather. Jason, Angie and Alana came back for it, regardless of Alana's temperature, and it was great seeing them! Joleen got lots of loot and we ate some fabulous food. Here are some pics of Joleen, Angie and Alana; Joleen and Jennifer and the awesome diaper cake Angie made!

Weekends are too short

Why aren't weekends 3/4 days instead of just 2? We had such a nice weekend at home, although it was anything but quiet. With 4 wiener dogs, mom and dad, Mandi and Andriy and a "party" Saturday night, we were busy. We had such a nice time even though the weather wasn't as nice as earlier in the week. Thursday night dad came up we had dinner and both dad and Jeremy fell asleep watching TV, really early!! Friday Jeremy took a half day and him and dad went golfing, drinking and baseball watching, not sure in what order, but I know they tackled them all! Again, they fell asleep EARLY watching TV!! Everyone else came in Friday night and it was nice to hang out and catch up. Saturday morning we took the dogs for a long walk on a nice trail in Dbq. Ella was so funny, she just followed all of the other dogs we actually took her leash off her and she just bounced around the dog pack! The boys stayed behind and dug/buried the drainage tile, one of Jeremy's things on his to do list, swaying family into doing his dirty work. We got home, made food, got ready and the Fluhr's came over later that afternoon. Fortunately the rain didn't last long and we had a nice bonfire going for the latter part of the evening. Sunday was also pretty low key, mom and dad stuck around later and mom and I went shopping while dad fell asleep on the couch watching TV, are you seeing a pattern here?? We found some cute things and got some GREAT deals, Thanks mom!! The only downfall of the evening is that I didn't take any photos, sorry Jess! I will take some this weekend at Joleen's shower and at the Cards Cubs game!! Looking forward to another busy, but great weekend. I hope to see some of you on Saturday! Good luck moving Mandi and Andriy!

16 Weeks

Wow, hard to believe it's already been 16 weeks, approx 4 months, since I've been pregnant. It's not hard to forget with my constantly changing body, but it will be September before we know it and I want to enjoy my time being pregnant. I have found some things I LOVE about being pregnant, 1. you never have to suck in your gut after a big meal 2. you get to wear the comfiest maternity wear 3. people are always tending to you and asking how you're doing 4. friends and family are genuinely so excited and happy for you when you pass along the good news and 5. eating is not so much a concern right now, maybe it should be, but it's not!! Things are still going really well, my only complaint is that I get quick sharp cramps often throughout the day, other than that I'm feeling great! I had my 16 week appt and things are looking good, heart beat is good, weight gain is good, my uterus is high but not concerning (who would've thought I would be writing a blog that contained the word uterus??). And now that tax season is over (woohoo) Jeremy can really enjoy the dr appts and the ultrasound, which is coming up on May 11 and May 19. I took another belly shot and will try to post one at least once a month. Mom, dad, Mandi and Andriy you will get a full view of the belly this weekend, so be prepared for a much larger Lara than last time!!

Go Cubbies

Cubs home opener game a SUCCESS! I actually sat at home a little bit this afternoon and watched the Colorado Rockies get eaten alive at Wrigley! While I was watching the game I watched the rain turned to snow out my window??!!
There's no snowing in baseball!

Easter Sunday

Jeremy and I went to church this morning at the church we've been attending, pretty regularly, for the past year. Mass began at 9am and we knew, based on regular Sunday's, it would be REALLY BUSY and it was!! After church we hit Don and Rita's around 11:40 and ate a fabulous meal, one I've been waiting for all week, with all of the Fluhrs. We all got Easter baskets with lots of candy and then just hung around. Actually the guys watched the Masters and we watched Alana! She is hilarious and so great around the camera. Here are some photos from Easter, mostly of Alana. Happy Easter everyone!!

Shopping Shopping Shopping

Yesterday Joleen, Jennifer and I went shopping in Madison. It was my first maternity clothes buying experience. I had looked at the VERY slim options here in Dubuque, but wasn't sure what I would need or how I would grow. My work pants were getting pretty uncomfortable and I know I will only get bigger and bigger and bigger, until God only knows how big I'll be by the time this is all over??!! We went to Babies R Us, Gordman's, JCPenny at the Mall in Madison. We were on a little bit of a time constraint, but were able to hit some good deals and find a few necessary purchases. Babies R Us was fabulous, all baby all over! I looked at some crib sets and bedding sets and they were adorable, so I got a better idea of what I wanted for the baby room. I'll save the BIG decisions and registry for a time when Jeremy can come along too, he LOVES shopping??!! So here are some of the things I got, not too exciting, but I was really impressed with how well things fit and the cuteness of the tops and dresses. The Cubs tank is not maternity, but will look adorable with my big belly later this summer, NO ARGUING!! Looking forward to more shopping and one of the biggest purchases, a swim suit, later this spring!

Are you kidding me?

About a week and a half ago I woke up with an excruciating earache and found out I had a middle ear infection, I know how old am I anyway??!! On Thursday night I didn't sleep and was still in LOTS of pain, over a stupid ear, and decided to stay home for the day. The pain finally subsided a few days later and I finished taking the medication just this last Saturday. This was seriously the worst pain I have ever felt, ask me in October if I still feel this way. Yesterday I decided to call the doctor to let them know I still had a very plugged ear and I was continuously jabbing q-tips in it, which I know is not good, something had to be done. I went in yesterday morning the doctor looked in my ear, I told him my symptoms and he said I had to wait until the mucus, sorry I know it's gross, cleared up. I asked if there was any kind of drops or if he could flush me ear because a plugged ear is SO ANNOYING!!! The fluids were behind my eardrum and he informed me there was nothing he can or should do because I'm pregnant. So, I asked about how long it would take to clear up and he said, "I may take months before it clears up for some people up to 25 weeks." That's right people I may be deaf in my left ear for a long time!! But, that wasn't the worst news, after he said this he followed up with, "Since the fluid is really thick it may get reinfected and if this happens call us to get more meds." I think I know what's worse than a clogged ear, 2 ear infections in 1 year??!! So, I'm sucking it up and praying it clears up soon with no follow up infection. How do these kids handle these, how did I handle them? I just hope I don't have to get tubes again, I'm not sure what's more embarrassing telling people I have an earache or taking off work for tubes to be put in my ears?!

What a relief!

Whew, all of the Fluhr's finally know. We told Don and Rita last Wednesday night and they were happy and excited for us and then we shared our news with the rest of the Fluhr clan this weekend. We went out to dinner with Jen and Pat and Joleen and Bob Friday night. We met up at Jen and Pat's house and I asked for a beer, to throw any preconceived notions I may be pregnant, and pretended to drink it. After a bit of catching up, Jeremy grabbed my beer and announced I really shouldn't be drinking it. It took a few minutes then everyone caught on to our announcement. They were so surprised and excited and for the rest of the night it was baby talk!! Saturday after Jeremy was off work we met up with Jimmy and Kristin and Jared at the Mining Co and shared our news with them. They were more shocked than anything and I still don't think it's set in yet that there will be 3 new babies at Christmas this year, wow!!! It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I'm emailing my co-workers today and that should be it. It's really feeling more and more real as people are asking me how I'm feeling and talking about baby stuff.
